SK Beveren heeft zich versterkt met centrale verdediger Yoni Gomis. De Franse jeugdinternational wordt voor één seizoen gehuurd van RC Strasbourg.
De 19-jarige Gomis heeft zowel de Franse als Senegalese nationaliteit en werd geboren in Saint-Aubin-lès-Elbeuf, in Normandië. Hij begon zijn voetbaltraject op vijfjarige leeftijd bij Club Municipal Sportif d’Oissel. Op twaalfjarige leeftijd volgde een overstap naar FC Rouen, waar hij als veertienjarige werd weggeplukt door Le Havre AC.
In het gerenommeerde Centre de Formation van HAC ontwikkelde Gomis zich tot een van de meest beloftevolle Franse centrale verdedigers van zijn generatie. Hij verzamelde intussen 28 selecties voor de Franse nationale jeugdploegen (U18, U19, U20) en was basisspeler in het team dat in 2024 de finale van het EK U19 bereikte.
In juni 2023 tekende hij zijn eerste profcontract bij Le Havre. Amper een jaar later volgde een transfer naar RC Strasbourg, dat een aanzienlijke transfersom betaalde voor de toen 18-jarige verdediger.

SK Beveren has strengthened its squad with the arrival of Yoni Gomis. The central defender and French youth international joins the club on a one-season loan from RC Strasbourg.
The 19-year-old Gomis holds both French and Senegalese nationality and was born in Saint-Aubin-lès-Elbeuf, in Normandy. He began his football journey at the age of five with Club Municipal Sportif d’Oissel. At twelve, he moved to FC Rouen, before being recruited by Le Havre AC at the age of fourteen.
At Le Havre’s renowned Centre de Formation, Gomis developed into one of the most promising French central defenders of his generation. He has already earned 28 caps for the French youth national teams (U18, U19, U20) and was a starter in the side that reached the final of the 2024 U19 European Championship.
In June 2023, he signed his first professional contract with Le Havre. Just one year later, he transferred to RC Strasbourg, who paid a significant fee for the then 18-year-old defender.
