WELKOM OP DE FREETHIEL, CHRISTOPHE JANSSENS!
SK Beveren is opgetogen de komst van verdediger Christophe Janssens (27) aan te kondigen. De ervaren linksachter ondertekende een contract voor de komende twee seizoenen, met een optie op een extra jaar.
Janssens genoot zijn jeugdopleiding bij RAEC Mons, Club Brugge en KRC Genk. In maart 2017 debuteerde hij bij de hoofdmacht van de Limburgers in een Europa League duel tegen KAA Gent.
Het daaropvolgende seizoen werd de linksback door Genk uitgeleend aan het Nederlandse MVV Maastricht. Hoewel de verdediger bij deze uitleenbeurt veel ervaring opdeed, besloot Genk Janssens toch naar KVC Westerlo te laten vertrekken. Bij de Kemphanen kwam hij terecht onder de vleugels van general manager Bob Peeters. Samen bleven ze tot de zomer van 2021 bij Westerlo.
Na zijn Kempense periode zocht en vond de verdediger een nieuwe uitdaging bij KMSK Deinze. Door het faillissement van de Tigers moest de voormalige jeugdinternational in de loop van vorig seizoen op zoek naar een nieuwe club. Die vond hij in de Borinage. Bij Francs Borains groeide Janssens opnieuw snel uit tot een vaste waarde.
General manager Bob Peeters:
“Na afloop van het seizoen hebben we met Alexander Corryn gepraat om te bekijken of we een nieuwe overeenkomst konden sluiten. Omdat we er financieel niet uitkwamen, bekeken we andere opties voor de linksachterpositie.
Ik ben zeer tevreden dat we Christophe Janssens konden vastleggen. Ik werkte bij Westerlo nog met hem samen, maar toen was hij nog jong. Het zijn vooral zijn sterke prestaties bij Deinze die ons niet waren ontgaan.
Christophe is een echte ‘soldaat’. Hij is gedisciplineerd, maar tegelijk ook agressief in de duels. Daarenboven is hij aanvallend ingesteld en beschikt hij over een echte winnaarsmentaliteit. Bovendien kent hij de competitie zeer goed. Kortom, ik ben zeer blij dat hij onze rangen komt vervoegen.”

CHRISTOPHE JANSSENS JOINS BEVEREN!
SK Beveren is pleased to confirm the arrival of defender Christophe Janssens (27). The experienced left-back has signed a two-year contract, with an option for a third season.
Janssens came through the youth academies of RAEC Mons, Club Brugge, and KRC Genk. He made his professional debut for Genk in March 2017 during a Europa League fixture against KAA Gent.
The following season, Janssens was loaned to Dutch side MVV Maastricht, where he gained valuable first-team experience. Despite his development, Genk opted to allow the defender to make a permanent move to KVC Westerlo. There, he played under the guidance of general manager Bob Peeters, and the two remained at the club until the summer of 2021.
Following his time in the Kempen region, Janssens embarked on a new challenge with KMSK Deinze. However, due to the club’s bankruptcy, the former Belgian youth international was forced to seek a new team midway through last season. He found that opportunity with Francs Borains, where he quickly established himself as a key player once again.
General manager Bob Peeters:
“At the end of the season, we had discussions with Alexander Corryn to explore the possibility of reaching a new agreement. However, as we couldn’t come to terms financially, we began looking at alternative options for the left-back position.
I’m very pleased that we were able to secure Christophe Janssens. I previously worked with him at Westerlo, although he was still quite young at the time. It was mainly his strong performances at Deinze that really caught our attention.
Christophe is a true warrior. He’s disciplined, yet aggressive in duels. On top of that, he has an attacking mindset and a genuine winning mentality. He also knows the league inside out. All in all, I’m very happy to welcome him to our squad.”
